The region's youngsters have the chance to rub shoulders with some elite sport stars at the University of Wollongong's school holiday sports camp.
The camp, which will run every day from Monday, July 2 to Friday, July 13, gives children aged from 5 to 12 years the chance to try many sports and meet their heroes.
Previous camps have seen autograph sessions from Olympian Adrian Hatcher, Commonwealth Games athlete Jaimee-Lee Starr, and Big Brother winner Peter Corbett, World Champions Shannan Taylor, Lauryn Eagle, Steelers legends Brett Rodwell and Ian Russell, the Illawarra Hawks, St George-Illawarra Dragons, Wollongong Wolves and Australian representatives Russell Dessaix-Chin, Mick Cutajar and Brittany Sharkey.
The camp will be held at the University Recreation and Aquatic Centre (URAC) from 9am to 5pm each day.
It is part of a new URAC initiative called UOW Kidz Sportz, which encourages children to try different sports with the focus on participation and fun.
"The holiday sports camp program is excellent for introducing kids to new sports and for keeping them active and happy during the school holidays," UOW Programs Manger Lee Murray said.
The program allows all participants to challenge themselves in soccer, tennis, squash, dance, basketball, cricket, hockey, badminton, volleyball, netball, water sports (weather permitting), ultimate frisbee, touch football, Australian rules, rugby union and Gaelic football.
Each participant will receive a camp T-shirt and coaching in a variety of sporting activities, as well as clinics within the daily program conducted by the Illawarra Tennis Academy, NRG Dance Studios, Illawarra Junior Baseball League, AFL/Auskick and NSW Rugby Union.
