RALEIGH- A Greensboro man suddenly became a $100,000 winner playing the “Wooooooo!” scratch-off game. Said Rashid scratched off his winning ticket at the store where he purchased the game, the Yico Lee Mart on West Market Street in Greensboro. His after-tax winnings totaled $68,001. Said told NCEL officials that in addition to putting his winnings into savings, he plans to use the money to do some things for his family.

Pick 3 players “saw triple” on Wednesday, Jan. 27 when the numbers “5-5-5” came up in the evening draw. A total of $888,750 in cash prizes were paid on the 3,555 winning shares.

Powerball players in North Carolina need to check their tickets! Two tickets sold in North Carolina are worth $10,000 after each one matched four out of five white balls and the Powerball in the Wednesday, Jan. 27 drawing. The tickets were sold at the Wilco Hess on Highway 264 East in Greenville and at the Shell Food Mart on Becks Church Road in Lexington.

A total of 41,109 North Carolina Powerball players won prizes in the Wednesday, Jan. 27 Powerball drawing ranging from $3 to $10,000 for a total payout in prizes worth $427,411. Because no tickets matched all five white balls and the Powerball, the jackpot for the Saturday, Jan. 30 Powerball drawing is an estimated $90 million.

The North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) has paid out over $5 million total in instant scratch-off ticket prizes since Monday, Jan. 25. Also since Monday, “Carolina Pick 3” players have won over $1.4 million, “Carolina Pick 4” players have won more than $148,000 and 5 tickets won the top prize of $5,000. “Carolina Cash 5” players have won over $183,708.

100% of the North Carolina Education Lottery net proceeds are used for pre-kindergarten programs for at risk youth, reduction of class size in early grades, school construction and need-based college scholarships.
